Aida Schlaepfer - Asian Film Week 2025

Aida Schlaepfer

Aida, a film director with a postgraduate diploma from Zurich F+F and the Cairo Institute of Arts, was nominated for Best Documentary at the 95th Academy Awards for Souls In Transit. Her award-winning films, including NouN (2015), have been showcased globally.

A jury member and curator at major film festivals, she also lectures on Arab women in cinema. Founder and president of the Zurich International Arab Film Festival, she uses film to advocate for marginalized communities, shaped by her firsthand experience of conflict in Lebanon and Iraq.

Rashmi Doraiswamy - Asian Film Week 2025

Rashmi Doraiswamy

A renowned Indian scholar, film critic, and writer, she is a professor at Jamia Millia Islamia University. She won the National Film Award for Best Film Critic and specializes in film and cultural studies.

Her works include Post-Soviet States: Chinghiz Aitmatov in the 90s and co-editing Being and Becoming: Asian Cinema. She has translated Russian works and contributed to the Encyclopedia of Postcolonial English Literature.

Her research spans film studies, comparative literature, and cultural studies. She has served as a jury member at major film festivals, including Toronto, Berlin, Moscow, and Mumbai.

Mazen Haj Kassem - Asian Film Week 2025

Mazen Haj Kassem

Director, screenwriter, producer, and member of the European Film Academy.

He graduated in 2012 with a degree in acting from the Drama Academy and completed his Master's in Film in 2019. As a director, he has won over 100 awards for Best Film and Best Screenplay. He is active in theater and TV production in the Middle East and Europe, playing a key role in both production and screenwriting. He has founded four film festivals in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway and served as a jury member for over 20 film festivals.
